Celtic Pocket Bookmark
The Celtic Pocket Bookmark is a unique project that uses simple crochet stitches and a small amount of Size 3 (or DK weight) cotton yarn. My Crochet Pocket Bookmark design (click here to see) has been so popular that I thought it would be fun to create a Celtic version. I love how this one turned out and I think you’ll love how easy and quick it is to make!

What is a Pocket Bookmark?
A pocket bookmark is a very practical and handy bookmark to have because it keeps a pen, pencil and/or highlighter close by for taking notes or marking pages in addition to keeping your place in a book! This crochet pocket bookmark is made with a piece of elastic and 3 simple buttons so that you can adjust it to fit a variety of book sizes. This project makes a great gift for anyone you know who loves to read and especially loves to make notes while they read. 🙂 Another good idea is to make the straps a little longer so this Celtic Pocket Bookmark can fit over a notebook – then you are guaranteed to always have a pen near by!
Stitches Used in this Celtic Pocket Bookmark
Most of the stitches used in this Celtic Pocket Bookmark are basic stitches. You’ll need to know the chain and single crochet. There are a few ‘shaping’ stitch combinations that help create the points, curves and outlines of the Celtic Knot which are very easy to do. I also include several links to short video tutorials to help you with these stitches. I would say that the crochet and knot weaving levels are “Easy”.

Celtic Pocket Bookmark Instructions:
The large-print 14-page pattern includes several color photos along with a detailed Celtic Knot diagram to help you be successful. There is also a special Celtic Knot diagram for Left-Handers. (Since Left-Handers crochet in the opposite direction of Right-Handers, a special diagram is essential) All of the stitches are explained in detail with several video tutorial links in case you need a short demo for some of them.

Supplies for the Celtic Pocket Bookmark:
All of the supplies are listed in the pattern along with purchase links so you can find just what you need to complete these projects. You’ll need 3 colors of Size 3 cotton yarn (1 skein of each color is plenty) and a 3.75mm crochet hook. I also recommend 5 stitch markers and a yarn needle. You’ll need a corkboard and straight sewing pins to help you weave the knot as well. To add the finishing touches of the bookmark you’ll need an elastic band, 3 small buttons and some matching felt.
