Here at Celtic Knot Crochet we love the outdoors so we have fun every once in a while combining our love for crochet with outdoor adventures. We use our yarn scraps to create some mini-mandalas and then have fun finding rocks that fit them. We secure the mandalas to the rocks, add a message, such as, “Take Me Home” (to invite others to enjoy the rock art) and hide them somewhere outside. Let us know if you find one and where you took it home to [email protected] – we’d love to hear about it!
Here’s what’s been hidden:
Rock cover modeled after the Fairy Garden Mandala – Hidden at Odiorne Point – May 2021
This simple flower rock was hidden in Portsmouth near the bridge shown below – beautiful spot overlooking the bay – May 2020.
This rock was hidden (July 2020) on a little beach on the shore of one of our favorite places to kayak. It can only be found by traveling on the water 🙂 Isn’t it a gorgeous view?
Here is a “Granite Granny” rock hidden on the opposite shore as the rock above on the same lake – When I placed this rock, the setting sun was creating a beautiful sky (picture below).
This heart rock was hidden on a rocky beach at Odiorne State Park, NH (August 2020)- the tide was out and we enjoyed seeing all kinds of fish and sea life in the tidal pools that day.
Another yellow flower rock was hidden near this covered bridge in Littleton, NH (Aug. 2020) – we had a picnic lunch near the river and enjoyed the scenery.
This blue and red rock was hidden in a tree trunk near this river pool – very refreshing on a hot summer day (Aug 2020). We loved seeing fish swim by in the clear water.
This red rock made of several popcorn stitches was hidden across the street from the Omni Mt. Washington Hotel (near the sign in the photo below) – We enjoyed a spectacular view of Mt. Washington (mountains in the background) every day of our time in the White Mountains this past Aug. 2020.
We hid this simple rock at the top of Mt. Cranmore, NH after having fun riding the Mountain Coaster and the Eagle Zip Line. The views of the mountains were wonderful as we rode the chair lift. Here I am posing with this rock near where I hid it. 🙂
This yellow rock crocheted with several puff stitches was hidden along the Pemigewasset River (locals call it “The Pemi”) not far from Loon Mountain (Aug 2020). I never get tired of spending time near a mountain river and taking in all of the beautiful scenery.
Rocks hidden during the Summer of 2019:
We hid this rock after we spent some time swimming in these beautiful pools of crystal clear water – such a peaceful spot!

This rock was made special to hide at one of our favorite places to go as a family – Santa’s Village – in Jefferson, NH – The amusement park is filled with fun rides, gorgeous flowers and everything Christmas even in August!
I hid the rock near the bumper cars and where you could see this eating area and garden.
