Crochet Celtic Heart Garland
The Crochet Celtic Heart Garland is a beautiful home decor project that uses basic stitches and a small amount of Size 3 cotton thread. You might recognize the Celtic Knot Heart motif from the Celtic Heart Lantern pattern (that you can see here). I enjoyed the heart design so much that I thought it would be fun to make a mini garland using only the hearts. Plus, I added a cute scallop edging that stretches out the heart shape and gives it a unique look. (I have crocheted sooo many heart patterns and designs that you can see here and I have ideas for more! 😉)

I LOVE Crochet Garlands!
I have created several crochet garlands over the years and I love how they look decorating my home! I enjoy the color and whimsy they bring to any space and how easy they are to make. Usually you only need to create 1 to 5 types of motifs and then make a few of each – tada! Easy peasy! Another fun thing about garlands is that each piece can be a cute little decoration all on its own. So, if you want, you can make a bunch of these Celtic Hearts and give them to friends and family inside a card for Valentine’s Day (or any time of year) to show how much you care!

Stitches Used in the Crochet Celtic Heart Garland Project
This Crochet Celtic Heart Garland pattern uses only basic stiches, such as: chain, slip stitch, single crochet and double crochet – that’s it! And you’ll need to know how to do the “single crochet 2 together” decrease stitch. But don’t worry if you have not done this one before because I include a link to a short video tutorial showing you how to work that stitch. I think you’ll be surprised at how easy it is to create this Celtic Heart design. Plus, I provide a color-coded diagram (for both Right and Left Handers) that uses colors and numbers to help you be successful in weaving the Celtic Knot Heart.

Yarn: Size 3 cotton crochet thread in 4 colors
2 shades of pink; 2 shades of cream/bone/tan
Here are some good options for Size 3 thread:
Hook: 2.75 mm (C)
Cork board (at least 6” square)
(Foam core poster board, blocking boards or Styrofoam square would also work well)
Optional: Waterproof & Washable Fabric Glue or hot glue and glue sticks
Fabric Stiffener

Oh, these are cute! I don’t think I have any 3, would #10 work? They would be much smaller I suppose. I’m not a big fan of Valentines Day, but I am of hearts of all kinds. Thank you, Faith
Hi! Yes, you could make these with Size 10 thread but you would also need to print out the diagram so it is a smaller size or try weaving the knot without working on top of the diagram. Let me know if you need help doing that. 🙂
