Celtic Crochet Acorn

Two Celtic Knots

Look closely and you’ll see 2 Celtic Knots in this Celtic Crochet Acorn design. These are made from 2 crocheted cords that are made up of mostly single crochet stitches! I love the look of the classic Trinity Knot and think it adds character to this acorn.

Stitches Used in the Celtic Crochet Acorn

To make the Celtic Crochet Acorn you only need to know basic crochet stitches such as: chain, slip stitch, single crochet and half double crochet. You will also need to know how to crochet in the back bar (or back bump) of the chain and how to work in the back loop only – these are easy techniques but in case you need help, you can watch some short video tutorials that are linked to in the pattern. You’ll also need to do a couple of decreasing stitches that I explain in detail in the pattern.

Yarn: Size 3 (DK weight) cotton yarn

1 ball/skein of each color (The exact yarns I used are listed in the pattern with purchase links)

(I tried to pick 2 colors that coordinated and/or contrasted well with each other)

Hook: 3.75mm (F) hook

Other Supplies:

Yarn needle

Cork board (at least 12” square)

(Foam core poster board, blocking boards or Styrofoam square would also work well)

15-20 straight sewing pins
