Celtic Heart Bookmark
The Celtic Heart Bookmark is a beautiful and elegant corner bookmark design that works up quickly with a small amount of cotton crochet thread. I created this design several years ago to give to one of my magazine editors as a gift and ever since then I have been meaning to write up the pattern to share with you!

Crochet Corner Bookmark
I love the look of a corner bookmark and think they are so creative. Have you ever seen one before? They simply slide over a few pages at the corner of your book to keep your place – genius! And since the bottom half of a heart shape is just like half of a square cut on the diagonal (with a nice 90 degree corner), a crochet heart works well for this style of bookmark. 🙂
Celtic Knot Heart Decoration
You can also make a Celtic Knot Heart Decoration with this pattern by completing just the front piece. I think it would make a pretty wall hanging or an addition to a simple card for Valentine’s Day. Of course, you would need to stiffen the heart with fabric stiffener or white glue – by doing this it really helps the stitches shine! You could even make several of these pieces and string them together for a fancy Valentine’s Day garland.

Gorgeous Celtic Knot Heart with Basic Stitches and Thread
There are so many different ways to crochet a heart shape and there are many different Celtic Heart designs. The Celtic Knot Heart in this corner bookmark is one of my favorites – so pretty! It is easy to weave this knot especially with the diagram included. To crochet the pieces for this project you will need to know these stitches: chain, slip stitch, single crochet, half double crochet, and double crochet. There are a few simple techniques incorporated as well which I provide video tutorial links for. In addition there are some decrease stitches which are explained in detail. Supplies Needed for the Celtic Heart Bookmark

The Celtic Heart Bookmark uses a small amount of Size 10 cotton crochet thread and a 1.5mm crochet hook. I love to crochet with Aunt Lydia’s Classic Thread and I love that it comes in so many great colors. The hook is very tiny but works well when you use the Clover line of hooks – they are my favorite. The silicone handle prevents your hand from cramping and getting tired so you can crochet longer!
Here are the rest of the supplies needed to make this project:
2 stitch markers
20 sewing pins
5″ x 5″ corkboard
Embroidery needle
Fabric stiffener
Rust-proof pins (20)
Artist brush
Aluminum foil (small square)
These supplies help you weave the Celtic Knot and enable you to stiffen the project so it holds its shape and works well on the pages of your book.
