Easy Crochet Summer Shawl Round-Up

I think you’ll be inspired by this list of easy crochet summer shawl patterns! I love to design and crochet shawls for many reasons. Most shawls are one-size-fits-all so they are easy to crochet and gift to others! I love how they take a simple outfit and add eye-catching interest. I often wear crochet shawls with a basic black dress or white top. This really helps the shawl to shine and you feel great wearing it! Plus, it is really easy to make a shawl using the basic crochet stitches. So, I put together this list of easy crochet summer shawl patterns to help you find one you can start crocheting today!

Summer Shawls Can Become Fall Shawls

Even thought this list is for easy crochet summer shawl patterns, you can easily make each pattern with Size 4 medium weight yarn or a wool-blend yarn to create a warmer and more fall-appropriate shawl. I wear many of my crochet garments all year long because I change the layers I wear underneath the crocheted piece. For example, in the summer I wear the Lacy Shells Shawl (see number 5 below) over a sleeveless top but in the fall or spring I wear it over a long-sleeve top.

Stitches Used in these Easy Crochet Summer Shawls

Most of these easy crochet summer shawl patterns use the basic crochet stitches in creative ways to make the pretty designs. This means that even if you are a beginner you can create one of these beautiful shawls. For triangular shawls you need to either decrease as you go (if it starts at the top edge) or increase as you go (if it starts the bottom point). These shawls do this very simply and is worked into the stitch repeats for each row. Many shawls get a pretty finished look when you work a similar stitch pattern around the entire shape as the edging.

      1. I like the summer sunset shawl, the bright colors are beautiful. But to be honest I like all of them in one way or other.

      2. All the pattern are beautiful but my top 3 favorites are
        1. Scalloped Wrap #3
        2. Lacy Shells Shawl #5
        3. Vintage Vibes Shawl #9

I love your creativity & your creative eye for picking out patterns. I recently had surgery, so all I can do is look at patterns & crochet. Thank you for keeping me busy as I heal! Janet

        1. Thank you for your kind words! I hope you recover quickly from your surgery and have a nice stack of crochet projects when you are all healed! 🙂

  5. Vintage vibes is my choice and I’ve found the perfect yarn in my stash! Sometimes it’s pays to tidy up occasionally. Thank you for sharing these beautiful shawls.

  6. I particularly like the the Vintage tulip shawl. It seems that it would go from casual to dressy and accommodate several looks as a statement piece or an accent piece.

  7. I really like the April Showers, the Tu;ip, and the Vintage Vibe. We have shaws at our church over the pew-backs. We have quite a few elderly folk and vaulted ceilings with fans so in the winter the moving air can be cool/cold sometimes! Needless to say, some of the shaws tend to go home with folks so we are always replenishing. I’m a little nervous doing a triangle! I’ve finally learned how to keep my edges equal! Regardless, I will probably try at least one and, depending on the outcome, maybe more.

    1. I love that your church has shawls ready to ‘share’ with the congregation. I think you will enjoy making a triangle shawl. Please email me if you need any help! 🙂

  8. Hard to pick a favourite out of this lovely round up! I really do love the look of the vintage tulip shawl. Looks like a lovely texture and soft deal.
Thanks for this wonderful list of projects Jennifer!

    1. It was really hard to decide which one I prefer! The Summer Path Shawl is my number one. I love the look of the gradient and that it is a two basics stitches. My number two is the April Showers Shawl, it looks so elegant! it will be very beautiful and graceful worn with a dress and distinguished but casual worn with jeans. And I have a number three, actually there’s three patterns that are my number three (couldn’t decide 😍) : the Lacy Shells Shawl and the Crochet Scallop Wrap for their delicate and romantic look and the Vintage Tulip Shawl for its timeless look that can be worn with anything. Thank you so much for all these beautiful patterns! I haven’t crocheted in a while, but your patterns are making me want to get back into it. Let’s crochet!

      1. Thank you for commenting! So glad to hear that you are inspired to get back into crocheting after seeing this round-up! Happy creating! 🙂

  9. My favorite is the Vintage Tulip Shawl by Wilmer. It just looks like it would give you a nice to chase the cool summer night’s chill away.

  10. Am liebsten mag ich den “April Showers”. Ein wunderschönes Muster und Fransen finde ich immer total schön.

  11. After looking over these beautiful shawls, I finally decided I could not choose just one. I really liked the Lacy Shells Shawl because of the delicate look and adding beads makes it look very dressy. I also liked The Summer Sunset shawl because of the beautiful colors and design.

  12. I love them all really…lol…but I do like the last three the best. I love your celtic stuff. It is a challenge but it is a FUN challenge. Keep up the wonderful designs!

  13. The April Showers shawl appeals to me as it looks cozy and I tend to want that in a shawl, regardless of what time of year it is.
