Celtic Crochet Necklace

Celtic Necklace crocheted in green thread with a simple celtic knot as the pendant and lacy stitches for the length hanging on a light purple necklace display

Celtic Necklace

This Celtic Necklace was part of a special art display several years ago. I taught crochet at an art school that is affiliated with a local art museum. The museum held a special art display for the school’s instructors and I chose to have this Celtic Princess Necklace be a part of the art show. The original piece was crocheted in all silver metallic embroidery thread.

Now the Celtic Necklace pattern is available in my Etsy shop here so that you can make one of your own. 🙂

Yarn Used for this Crochet Necklace

The Celtic Necklace is crocheted with Size 10 cotton crochet thread and a size 1.5mm steel hook. These are very small supplies and may take some getting used to if you’ve never used them before. (You can always practice the pattern with a much larger hook (size 6mm) and medium weight yarn to get the hang of how the stitches work together.) But crocheting the stitches with this thin thread gives it that lacy and delicate look that I love!

If you look closely you can see that I also added a few faceted flatback gems to give it some sparkle and elegance. I love adding gems that match the thread I am using – they look really pretty in person and are super easy to add with a small amount of gem glue.

Stitches Used in the Princess Necklace

The stitches used are very simple. All you need to know how to do are the chain and single crochet! The instructions include a knot diagram and 15 color photos so you can have success weaving the Celtic Knot.

I hope you enjoy making and wearing this Celtic Princess Necklace – Thank you for your support!
