FREE Crochet Flower Patterns
There are so many free crochet flower patterns available now that I thought I would put together a list of 15 of them for you so you can make a few to get into the spirit of spring and warmer weather! I love to crochet flowers because they work up so fast and often end up looking very much like the real thing. Plus, with these free crochet flower patterns you’ll have a whole garden that will never die or need watering so you can enjoy them all year long.
Basic Crochet Stitches
You’ll notice that most of these projects use the basic crochet stitches for the free crochet flower patterns – chain, single crochet, half double crochet and double crochet – so many are suitable for beginners and experienced crocheters alike! Most of these patterns also use a small amount of yarn that you can probably find in your stash.
Crocheting in the Round
When you crochet one of these free crochet flower patterns you will most likely need to work “in the round”. This means that you will make a small circle at the beginning of the project and then add stitches to it as you go around and around. If you have only made rectangular crochet projects up until this point, then working in the round will take a little practice. I recommend having some stitch markers near by to help you keep track of your stitches and your place in the pattern. I also recommend practicing the pattern with thicker yarn (Medium weight) and a larger hook (5 to 6mm) while you get the hang of working in a circle. You will also be adding stitches every round so that your flower lays flat or has various levels of petals.
Crochet Flowers – Great for so Many Projects!
Once you get going with making flowers I think you will really enjoy it. Another great thing about these free crochet flower patterns is that you can use them for so many projects. A flower on its own can be made into a pin or earrings. If you crochet a bunch of flowers you can sew them on to a bag, blanket or hat for a beautiful end result. And some people love to crochet several flowers to leave for someone to find in their community – sometimes they even attach a sweet note to them that really helps make someone’s day. 5. Red Rose Pin
This free crochet flower pattern is made with one of my favorite yarns – velvet! Velvet yarn gives a flower project a very luxurious feel and look. This flower is crochet with simple stitches and even comes with a step-by-step video tutorial. Even though the velvet feels more “wintery” there is a mini-rose version of this flower as well that I made into a decoration for a dog collar.

I love when the cherry blossoms start blooming because it feels like Spring has finally arrived. Have you ever been to a town or city that has many cherry trees? If not, I highly recommend it – when they are all blooming together it is breathtaking! If you don’t have the opportunity near you, then with this unique and simple pattern, you can have cherry blossoms to look at all year long right at home! Once you have made several blossoms, the possibilities are endless for what you can make with them or what you can add them to!

Dogwood trees are one of the prettiest trees once in full bloom – the petals are so unique! We have 2 dogwood trees in our front yard – one pink and one white. Once they bloom we know spring has definitely arrived! This pattern allows you to perfectly recreate dogwood blossoms with crochet. 11. Easy & Beautiful Crochet Flower Motif
This flower motif reminds me of a Celtic Knot! I love how you work one round around another already completed round to get the woven look. Looks complicated but is actually fairly easy. It would make a lovely table centerpiece or wall hanging.
