FREE St. Patrick’s Day Crochet Patterns
This time of year I love to decorate and crochet Irish-themed projects so I’ve put together 20 free St. Patrick’s Day Crochet Patterns for you in this Round-Up. You’ll see that there is definitely a lot of green to enjoy! It’s such a pretty color! Plus, you’ll see a bunch of creative ways the color green and the shamrock shape are used together to crochet hats, cozies, bags and decorations.
Basic Crochet Stitches
You’ll notice that most of these projects use the basic crochet stitches for the St. Patrick’s Day patterns – chain, single crochet, half double crochet and double crochet – so many are suitable for beginners and experienced crocheters alike!
Rainbows, Leprechauns and Celtic Knots
In these free crochet patterns you’ll not only see many green shamrocks but you’ll also see some other Irish-inspired symbols – rainbows, leprechauns and Celtic Knots. I think there is a great variety here! (I had fun adding a few of my free patterns to the mix) Plus, many of them are small projects so you can whip it up in a weekend or less just in time for St. Patrick’s Day!

For each of the St. Patrick’s Day crochet patterns you’ll see a photo and be able to read a little bit about the project. On to the Round-up!
1. Featured Pattern – Celtic Shimmer Mandala

The Celtic Shimmer Mandala is one of my most favorite projects so far. I created a similar design for a special Yarn Bomb project (you can see photos of that here) using a simple crochet mandala. There was such a great response to that project that I decided to create the Celtic Knot version you see here. I LOVE how the recycled DVD’s (or CD’s) look in between the simple Celtic Knot motif. All stitches used in this project are easy to crochet and there is a step-by-step video tutorial, too. 🙂 This unique decoration is double-sided and would make a great decoration for St. Patrick’s Day!
