Crochet Pumpkin Pie Pattern
I LOVE decorating for fall and when it gets to November I enjoy adding Thanksgiving-themed pieces to my autumn decor – This cute little Crochet Pumpkin Pie is going front and center for sure!
I think when you add eyes to any project, it makes you smile; plus, the cutsie eyes on this pumpkin pie give it an amigurimi look which is the popular crochet trend of making little stuffed creatures.
I used simple assembly techniques (yarn tails and yarn needle) to put this pumpkin pie slice together along with a small piece of a common craft supply to help it keep it’s shape (you’ll see it in the supply list and photos below).

Crochet Pumpkin Pie – looks yummy enough to eat . . . almost!
The Crochet Pumpkin Pie pattern uses mostly single crochet stitches and a few double crochet stitches.
If you have visited my blog before, you’ll have noticed that I have really loved this particular velvet yarn by Yarn Bee from Hobby Lobby. The yarn color is called, “Pumpkin” – perfect name, don’t you think? (These FREE patterns use it too: Velvet Pumpkins, Velvet Headband and Velvet Coffee Cup Cozy)
I assure you this slice of crochet pumpkin pie won’t add to your waistline but it will add to the smiles you’ll get around your Thanksgiving table – so let’s get started!

Crust Base – C:

Rows 10 – 16: Repeat Row 4
Ch 1, sl st around sides of triangle just created. Fasten off.

Whipped Cream:
With H/5mm hook and white ch 2
Round 1: Work 5 sc in 2nd ch from hk
Round 2: (Sl st, ch 1, 3 hdc, ch 1, sl st) in each st around = 5 petals.
Now work center petals in any available loops trying to work in between outside petals just made in Round 2 – First center 2 petals: (Sl st, ch 1, 3 hdc, ch 1, sl st) for each petal; 3rd center petal: (sl st, 2 hdc, sl st); sl st in center of “flower”; Fasten off. Thread ending yarn tail through center of “flower”
Finishing/Assembly:

Using yarn needle and yarn tails attach Center Section to plastic canvas piece along top and bottom edge
Fold canvas and crocheted center section in half to create point at tip of pie piece
Sew Top Section on top matching up points

Optional: Cut tan felt so slightly smaller than Base Crust Section – sew or hot glue felt to Wrong Side of Crust Base (This gives stability to the base and helps seal in the polyfil)
Sew Crust Base on bottom matching up points and making sure end reaches to top of pie piece
Stuff inside with Fiber Fill and tuck all yarn tails inside

Piece Edge Detail:
With J/6mm hook and pumpkin yarn join with sc at “D” on diagram; revsc around top edge at seam where Top Section and Center Section meet stopping at “E” on diagram
(Left-handers would start at E and work to D for revsc and for next section, “Completing the Crust”)
Completing crust:

With H/5.5mm hook and tan yarn you will be working across back of pie piece from “D” to “E”; join with sl st at “D” making sure to pass through both the edge of the Top Section and the edge of the Crust Base;
(ch 3, 4 dc in same st), remove hk from working lp; insert hk through top of ch-3 and then through working lp; pull working lp through top of ch-3 (Beginning popcorn completed); Work 5-dc popcorn in each st across making sure to pass through both the Top Section and the Crust Base;
**Add a ch-1 after the 4th and 5th popcorn**; Fasten off. Weave in all ends
Cut 10mm circles of black felt for eyes and add 2 white dots of paints
Cut smile out of black felt (17mm long)
Glue eyes and smile to center section of pie
Sew or glue on whipped cream on top section so centered between eyes
Tada! Your cute little crochet pumpkin pie is complete 🙂

I hope you enjoyed making this Crochet Pumpkin Pie Pattern – don’t you just love working with the super soft velvet yarn in this gorgeous “pumpkin” color? Every time I look at this little amigurimi-style project I smile. I was thinking that these could make cute place cards for your Thanksgiving feast – just add a small card with a name to sit between the whipped cream and crust.
