Velvet Crochet Pumpkins

Crochet Pumpkins!

I love that the velvet yarns are back in style now! They are so fun to design and crochet with!

Several months ago I was in Hobby Lobby perusing the yarn aisle and noticed this beautiful “pumpkin” color of one of their velvet yarns.

(If you read my blog post from last week, you would have seen how strolling through yarn aisles gives me a lot of inspiration – you can read about how this simple activity inspired the Twilight Shawlette here)

Every time I saw the pumpkin-colored yarn I was drawn to it and decided to buy 2 skeins and save for a fall project!

Well, now it’s fall and I have the first of 3 velvet projects to share with you here 🙂 – Introducing the “Velvet Crochet Pumpkins”.

Luxurious Velvet Yarn 🙂

Once you see the beautiful orange and feel the softness of this velvet yarn, you will want to make a crochet pumpkin with it right away! In this blog post you’ll find the FREE pattern for these crochet pumpkins, a video tutorial to help you with each step of the project and several photos to help you be successful.

Easy Textured Stitch looks like real pumpkin texture

These crochet pumpkins are made with a simple textured stitch that looks great with the velvet yarn – I show you how to make this stitch in the video tutorial and it is explained in the Special Stitches section below. Other stitches you’ll need to know are the single crochet and slip stitch – I think a confident beginner would be able to do a great job with these crochet pumpkins.

Now your cute Velvet Crochet Pumpkins are complete – your home decor is ready for fall! The textured stitches and natural texture of the yarn add a bunch of great interest among your fall decorations. What do you think about the blue crochet pumpkins? I love the contrast they give to the deep orange.

I think these would look cute on your desk at the office or on a teacher’s desk at school.
