Easy Crochet Infinity Scarf

Have you ever seen a skein of yarn in the store that is so pretty you just have to buy it right then and there? And, of course, you have no specific plans for it but you just gotta have it? 🙂

Well, that is what happened when I saw the yarn pictured below by Yarn Bee – their “Sugarwheel Cotton Sparkle” in the color “Just Relax” – ahhh. Pretty blues with the name “Just Relax” . . . .

So, I came up with this easy crochet infinity scarf project using a one row repeat stitch pattern – and sure enough, it was so relaxing to crochet! Once I got into the rhythm of the stitches, my hook was cruising along taking the soft and sparkly yarn quickly through my fingers.

I think you’ll enjoy crocheting this project – I love how you can’t see the rows clearly (so there are no row-lines) and it even looks like it’s been knitted. This stitch gives it a lot of stretch so be sure to store it rolled up or folded in a drawer (not hanging).

Let’s get to the specifics! **UPDATE: Now there is a video tutorial for this scarf project -scroll down to see it!**

Special Stitches:

Sophia Stitch: Insert hook into sp to right of vertical bar, YO, draw up a loop; insert hook into sp to left of vertical bar, YO, draw up a loop; YO, pull through all 3 loops on hook; ch 1 (see photos below)

When pulling a loop through 3 loops on hook, this creates a cluster stitch – Shown here are what the cluster stitches look like on the wrong side (black arrows); The vertical bars in between the cluster stitches are the markers for where to insert your hook
Here you can see that the hook has been inserted to the right and left side of the vertical bar and the YO at the end of the hook is about to go through the 3 loops on the hook to create the cluster

Notes:

Scarf is worked back and forth in rows and then the 2 short sides are joined to create a large loop that can be wrapped around neck 2 or 3 times

Here is a video tutorial for this project and to help you figure out the stitch!

    1. Hi – No, I don’t have a pattern for that at this time but thank you for the idea. 🙂 The Sophia stitch is a great stitch.
