Snowflake Ornament

A couple of weeks ago when several of my subscribers entered a giveaway we hosted here at Celtic Knot Crochet they sent me emails listing all of the projects they like to make for Christmas gifts. Guess what was one of the most mentioned gifts? . . . .Snowflakes!!

Well, I love snowflakes – so beautiful and delicate, so fascinating and unique. I had been planning on creating a snowflake with a Celtic Knot at the center for a while now and after everyone’s responses, I felt it was time to make my plans a reality – yay!

So, now this Celtic Snowflake pattern is available to purchase in my Etsy shop here.

Skill Level: Easy crochet stitches/Intermediate knot weaving

Measurement: 5 1/2″ in diameter

Here’s what the instructions include:

Printable Celtic Knot Diagram

List of supplies

20 color photos to guide you with weaving the knot and working the stitches

Directions for how to stiffen your project

Large text so easy to read

Supplies:

This project uses Size 10 cotton crochet thread and a size 7 steel hook (1.5mm). You’ll also need some knot weaving supplies and fabric stiffener. (For a complete list of the supplies, see the pattern page here)

Celtic Knot Practice:

If you haven’t tried one of my Celtic Knot projects yet, I recommend trying one of these easier ones (just click on the image to see pattern) before you try the snowflake so you can get the hang of weaving a knot – each one is FREE and has a video tutorial to go with it, too!

I love how the Celtic Snowflake turned out and I plan to keep mine up through Christmas and into the winter – Remember each one of us is unique just like a snowflake. 🙂

Happy crocheting!

Jennifer

  1. My first celtic knot. A very well written pattern. Thank you so much. I love this snowflake. As a lefty I initially had some hard times weaving the knot. Then I thought I could weave It with the wrong side facing me, passing above when I should pass under and viceversa. It worked for me.

    1. Hello! Thank you for your feedback. Great tip for left-handers! You are clever to figure that out and do the crosses in reverse. 🙂 So glad you love your finished project. Happy crocheting (and weaving 😉 )
