Mini-Puppy Rose
For a couple of months now I have been having fun experimenting with velvet yarn. Some of the projects I have made with this yarn are posted here on the blog: Red Rose Pin and the Easy Velvety Infinity Scarf. Have you tried crocheting with velvet yarn yet? – Sometimes it is called “chenille” and can come in various thicknesses.
I love how it is soft and thick and gives a lot of dimension to your crocheted projects. I’ve found that not only does it feel great in your hands while crocheting but it also feels great to wear.

I thought it would be fun to create a smaller rose for our little doggie, Sadie. She is great about wearing sweaters, coats and costumes. Several times a week one of my daughters will put a cute costume on Sadie just to make us smile – she will wear it all day without complaints which makes her even cuter.
Here is a photo of Sadie in her newest costume which she wore for Trick or Treat. We love how just the end of her little nose peeks out and from the back the white sticky-up ears look so funny.

So, if you have a pet that you love to dress up or plan to have in a special family photo, you can make this Mini Puppy Rose for them in no time to make them look even more sweet and lovable!

Weave in yarn tails for leaf
Glue leaf to underside of flower allowing a part of it to show on front – use photo as a guide
Glue flower (with leaf attached) to felt and trim off excess felt

Cut a small rectangular tab and glue on to back of flower to create a loop into which you will insert the collar
**Make sure your loop is big enough so you can thread the end of the collar through**
And that’s it! Your Mini Puppy Rose is complete!

Happy crocheting!
